Trucare Drycleaning Factory
Energy efficient Gold Coast home
The aim of the project was to construct a house in South East Queensland with a 5 Star Energy rating of better within a restricted budget and without double glazed windows.
Highly energy efficient building fabric Hebel blocks, 75mmm thick NG Styreneboard insulation
under roof sheet and at ceiling level. Reflective glazing to east and west windows.
Special ventilation with large amounts of openable windows designed to catch prevailing
breezes in summer.
Ventilated roof space to reduce heat build up in summer.
Rainwater tanks supplying a fully automatic garden sprinkler system.
Large overhanging eaves to reduce summer sun on windows and walls.
Sun shading to north facing windows, shaped to block out summer sun and utilise
the gain from winter sun.
Noise reduction treatments also added were:
- resilient mounts to reduce impact noise from upper floor
- acoustic ceiling in atrium entrance to reduce nois transfer throughout the house
